Friday, January 6th

We have had a busy first week back to school! Today we wrote to you in our Home Journals. Don't forget to read our letter and write back! We are working on writing at least 3 sentences and using lowercase letters and periods consistently now.

In Math, we talked about the "Friends of 10" strategy. What numbers can be paired together to make 10? We learned a couple of new math games using cards and dice and even sang a song to help us remember the numbers. Maybe we can work on this at home together!

We also continued our conversation about Fairy Tales from before Christmas and read the book "Red Riding Hood." Ask me how I retold the story (did I write it or did I use pictures? Can I retell it to you?). There are many different versions of this story and we will continue working on this next week.

We began talking about Animal Adaptations for our Inquiry. We made a funny portraits of ourselves with animal teeth. Ask me which animal teeth I chose to draw and why they are an important adaptation.

Jan. 9th - Parent Council Meeting 7pm

20th - PD Day - No school for students

The content of the letter is up to you, but you may wish to choose from one of the following ideas: Describe special or funny stories about your child for the class to hear, tell us some interesting facts (no more then 3) we may not know about your child, send silly or special pictures with a letter describing the picture, or write a short story with your child as the main character.
